Macron lauds Pakistan’s role in fighting terrorism

ISLAMABAD: French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday telephoned Prime Minister Imran Khan and stressed on the need to enhance bilateral trade ties, while he also accepted his Pakistani counterpart’s invite to visit the country.

According to a GoP press release, PM Imran briefed Macron over the situation in the South Asian region. The French president also condoled the loss of lives in terrorist attacks during General Elections 2018, while also lauded Pakistan’s role and sacrifices in the war against terrorism.

Macron hoped that the two countries will strengthen trade ties, especially in the field of energy.

PM Imran thanked Macron and said that the country wants to establish strong relations with France and forwarded an invitation to visit Pakistan.

Khan also talked about Pak-Afghan and Pak-India relations and highlighted the human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK), urging the global community to take action.
