PTI leader Seema Zia apologises for remarks against Jahangir Tareen

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr Seema Zia apologised over her remarks that party leader Jahangir Tareen was “rightly disqualified”.

“Whatever happened with Tareen is very good,” the PTI MPA said while addressing a Sindh Assembly session. “Whoever is involved in corrupt practices must be dealt with an iron fist, regardless of if it is Jahangir Tareen or someone else,” Zia said.

The statement comes a day after the Supreme Court upheld its December 2017 verdict to disqualify Tareen.

However, speaking to the media outside the provincial assembly, Zia apologised for her comments against fellow tehreek-e-insaf leader. “I highly respect Tareen and he has done a lot for the party and it is owing his sacrifices that the PTI is where it is today,” she said.

SC on Thursday upheld the decision of PTI leader Jahangir Tareen’s disqualification by dismissing a review petition that had challenged the disqualification verdict.

Moreover, the SC also refused to form a full bench to hear a review petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi.

Abbasi’s petition is against the Supreme Court’s decision to dismiss the disqualification case against PM Imran.
