Contributing
Blood and Earning Goodwill

On December 9, 2004, my wife
was invited to a function to honor people who
work at the Blood Bank of New York and New Jersey.
The function was held at the Liberty Science Center,
Jersey City, and attended by CEOs of the nation’s
leading pharmaceutical companies. The evening
was awe-inspiring as person
after person was recognized for his/her role in
gathering, processing, preserving and distributing
life-giving/life-saving human blood.
Watching the event I thought that Muslims as a
group could join the noble cause of blood donation.
We could invite the Blood Services to every single
mosque throughout the nation on 5 to 6 Fridays
of the year, and hold ‘Blood Drives’.
Imagine our contribution in saving lives and the
goodwill that this act would generate in return.
I will be more than happy to ask my wife, who
is a very active volunteer in the field of blood
collection, to get in touch with concerned authorities.
