The Dr Shazia
Case

As
a Pakistani national working as a Network Administrator
in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, I was shocked to read
Dr. Shazia Khalid's interview in an Urdu newspaper.
She said that there was no one in Pakistan to
put his hand on her head and instead people were
teasing her after her sad experience. One month
has passed and to date she is waiting for justice!
Believe me, after reading her interview I could
not sleep and her words kept ringing in my mind
all night: no one is there to help her, to get
her justice, to give her protection in her own
country! Is Pakistan an Islamic country? Really?
We have so many religious groups and militants
who readily die to save our sisters in Kashmir,
Afghanistan, etc. but so far there is not a single
fatwa issued by a Mufti against the criminals
who were involved in the shameful rape of Dr Shazia.
The MMA and other maulvis never hesitate to apply
pressure on the Government for such trivial issues
as the religion column in passports but their
silence on the issue is incomprehensible. The
MMA, Jihadi groups and other Islamic militants
have no agenda for the country's local problems.
They did not launch any campaign or rally to provide
justice to the respectable lady doctor and other
innocent female victims of rape. They are collecting
money for Jihad to protect Kashmiri and other
Muslim sisters but no one is working to provide
justice to the innocent female victims of man
chauvinism in Pakistan. They just want to raise
their own flag but not the Pakistani flag. I wish
to request President Musharraf and Mr. Shaukat
Aziz to please do something about such issues
in Pakistan. Also, I want to inform Dr. Shazia
that she is not alone and all Pakistanis are not
heartless. At least there are a few who feel her
pain and agony. The decision of the court may
or may not be in her favor but as a brother when
I visit Madina and Makkah this weekend I will
present her case in the Darbar of Hazrat Muhammad
PBUH and Bibi Fatima Zahra. I am sure Almighty
Allah will grant her justice.
