The Battle
of Badar
and
The Assembly of 10 Thousand Saints at Paran
By Dr. Bashir Ahmad
Wildwood, MO
There
are two events prophesized in the Old Testament.
One about the Battle of Badar and the other, The
Assemblage of 10 Thousand Saint Soldiers at Paran
on their onward march.
Both these prophecies were completely fulfilled
in the person of Prophet Mohammad (S.A.S.) These
facts then authenticate, without any doubt, the
truth of the Prophet Mohammad’s prophethood
and Islam.
The Battle of Badar
The Battle of Badar which took place outside Medina
in which Quraish were humiliatingly defeated,
was prophesized in the Old Testament and the Qur’an.
The fulfillment of that prophecy proves beyond
any doubt that the Qur’an is a divinely
revealed book and that Prophet Mohammad SAS is
a true prophet of God for the whole mankind.
The Battle of Badar was planned and executed by
the Meecan Quraish chiefs, whose leader was Abu
L Jahl, a tormentor and an arch enemy of Prophets
Mohammad (SAS). The Quraish of Mecca’s aim
was to kill Prophet Mohammad (SAS) and annihilate
Islam for good. The Quraish Army was comprised
of seasoned warriors, three times greater in number
than the Muslim Army, which could muster only
three hundred and thirteen, including a few boys.
Prophet Mohammad had prayed to God for victory
in the battle and God indeed had assured him of
a grand victory. The Quraish Army was battered,
its soldiers killed in large number, and they
had no option but to flee, leaving their dead
behind. Included among the dead was Abu L Jahl,
the Commander in Chief of the Quraish Army.
Prohet Isaiah’s prophecy beautifully describes
in detail The Battle of Badar.
“The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in
Arabia shall ye lodge, o ye traveling companies
of Ded´-a-nim.
The inhabitants of the land of Te´-ma brought
water to him that was thirsty, they prevented
with their bread him that fled.
For they fled from the swords, from the drawn
sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grieviousness
of war.
For thus hath the Lord said unto me, within a
year, according to the years of hireling and all
the glory of ke-dar shall fail and the residue
of the number of archers, the mighty men of the
children of Ke-dar, shall be diminished: For the
Lord God of Israel has spoken it.”
Isaiah 21/13-14-15-16-17.
Prophecy about The Battle of Badar in the Quran
“Or, do they boast: we are a strong host,
well succored? The hosts shall soon be routed,
and they will turn their backs in flight. Aye,
the hour is their appointed time, and the hour
will be most grievous and most bitter. The guilty
ones are in manifest error and are afflicted with
madness. On the day when they will be dragged
into the fire on their faces, they will be told:
suffer the torment of Hell.”
Al_Qamar 54/45-49
In short both Muslim and non-Muslim authorities
agree that this chapter Al-Qamar was revealed
years before the Prophet and his followers migrated
from Mecca to Medina.
One incident proves the daring and devotion of
the Muslim soldiers. One of the few generals of
the Muslim force was Abd-al-Rahman bin Auf, a
very experienced and daring soldier. When the
battle began, he looked to his right side and
to his left side to see what kind of support he
had. He found to his amazement that he had only
two lads from Medina on his flanks. His heart
sank and he said to himself, “Every general
needs support on his sides, more so I on this
day. But I have two raw boys.” Abd-al-Rahman
bin Auf says that he was hardly thinking over
the situation, when one of the boys touched his
side with his elbow. As he bent over to hear the
boy, the latter said, “Uncle, we have heard
of one Abu Jahl, who used to harass and torment
the Prophet. Uncle, I want to fight him, tell
me where he is.” The boys on the other side
asked the same question. Abd-al-Rahman raised
his finger to point at Abu L Jahl armed to the
teeth and standing behind lines protected b y
two senior generals with drawn swords. Abd-al-Rahman
had not dropped his finger, when the two boys
dashed into the enemy ranks with the speed of
an eagle, going straight for their chosen target.
The attack was sudden. The soldiers and guards
were stupefied. They attacked the boys. One of
the boys lost an arm. But they remained unnerved
and unbeaten. They attacked Abu Jahl, with such
violence that the great Commander in Chief fell
to the ground, mortally wounded.
Pá-ran of (Fá-ran in Arabic)
This is about a prophecy recorded in the Old Testament
about an assemblage of ten thousand saint soldiers
at Pa-ran or (Fa-ran-in arabic) a mountain in
the Arabian Desert, on their onward march. This
is the exact number – 10 thousand Muslim
Soldiers assembled at Pa-ran under the command
of Prophet Mohammad S.A.S., on their onward march
to Mecca.
In the Old Testament we read the following:
“God came from Te-man and the Holy one from
Mount Pa-ran, selah. The glory covered the heavens
and the earth was full of his praise.”
Habakkuk 3/3.
“And this is the blessing, where with Moses
the man of God blessed the children of Israel
before his death.
And he said, the Lord came from Si-nai and rose
up from Se-ir unto them, he shined forth from
Mount Pa-ran, and came with ten thousands saints:
from his right hand went a fiery law for them.”
Deuteronomy 33/1-2.
What was the mission of the assemblage of 10 thousand
Muslim saint soldiers at Pa-ran or Fa-ran? History
is very clear about it.
At Hudaibiya it was agreed between Muslims and
disbelievers that Arab tribes should be allowed
to join the disbelievers as well as the Prophet.
It was also agreed that for 10 years the parties
will not go to war against each other unless one
party should violate the pact by attacking the
other. Under this agreement – The Bnu-Bakr
joined the Meccans, while the Khuzaa entered into
an alliance with Muslims. Banu Bakr intended to
settle the score with Khuzaa and persuaded Meccan
to join them in a night attack, the Meccan agreed;
and put to death many of their men.
The Khuzaa sent forty of their men mounted on
fleet camels to Medina to report this breach of
agreement to the Prophet. The delegation met the
Prophet and the Prophet told them unambiguously
that he regarded their misfortune as his own.
The Prophet then sent a word to all the Muslim
tribes to assemble and advance on Mecca. They
all assembled in the wilderness around Mount Fa-ran.
The number of soldiers was exactly as Prophet
Moses had foretold long before – swelled
to 10 thousandths.
It must be emphasized that there is no other place
in the Middle East with the name Fá-ran
(or Pá-ran) except that in the desert of
Arabia. Again the Qur’an and the Old Testament
testifies to this fact. It was in the desert of
Arabia that Prophet Abraham banished his wife
Há-gar and his son Ishmael.
“Our Lord, I have settled some of my progeny
in a barren valley near thy sacred house, that
they may perform prayers with due observance,
our Lord. So make people’s hearts incline
towards them and provide them with fruits of all
kinds that they may be grateful.”
Ibra Him 14/38
From the Old Testament Genesis
“And God heard the voice of the lad; and
the angel of God called to Ha-gar out of heaven,
and said unto her, what aileth thee, Ha-gar? Fear
not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where
he is.
Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thy hands;
for I will make him a great nation.
And God was with the lad, and he grew, and dwelt
in the wilderness, and became an archer.
And he dwelt in the wilderness of Pa-ran: and
his mother took him a wife out of the Land of
Egypt.”
