“Why
Koran Is Such a Hot Button?”

Science Monitor is known for its objective reporting
of global news. But, reading the article on “Why
Koran is such a hot button,” I am dismayed
and shocked by the naïveté of the
paper’s reporter.
First, “Hot Button,” is a slang which
when used about the Holy Book, which at least
1 billion people hold with reverence, is insensitive
and callous. Second, to say that the issue being
discussed is raising emotions among a bunch of
'fanatics' in the Middle East and South Asia is
untrue and over-simplistic. The whole of the Islamic
World has been shocked by this news which seems
to lend truth to the idea of the beginning of
a new of era of “crusades,” against
Islam.
This is also confirmed by the appearance of evangelical
missionaries in Islamic nations that are currently
under the occupation of the Western Allies.
Thirdly, Al-Qu-raan is the final compilation of
the roadmap (others are Bible and Torah) for life
given by the Creator to three faiths, namely Judaism,
Christianity, and Islam. So, it cannot be separated
from the Originator of the Message. Even, from
purely a secular viewpoint the message provides
civil laws, psychological tools, and approaches
to solving the challenges of human life. At the
same time teaching discipline, respect for the
environment and Man’s dominion and responsibility
towards other creatures sharing planet Earth.
It also provides explanations for the various
events in the Universes (plural in Arabic: Alameen)
and actions of the humanly indefinable Creative
Power.
Finally, the ultimate accountability for breaking
the Universal Laws is embedded in the kernel of
this message. This message which started over
5000 years ago ended 1,400 years in its final
form. It has been kept in its pristine purity
and originality by those who believe they have
received its final version. Desecration of this
message is like defiling five thousand years of
its sanctity and history (and mocking its purveyors,
i.e. Prophets Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad)
which every civilized society in the modern world
has refrained from doing until today.
