I am an African American with many
ties in the Pakistani community. I was privileged
to have been invited to the Pakistan Independence
Day celebration in Los Angeles. I was entranced
by the excitement, food and celebrations. It was
a remarkable event filled with entertainment,
information and camaraderie.
I congratulate the organizers on an event that
showed both the beauty and diversity of the Pakistani
culture. It was an experience I will cherish for
life.

In his criticism of the Independence
Day celebration, Mr. Ashraf Ali does not say what
precisely was bad about the function. In my opinion,
all the presentations were good and well organized.
The participants and volunteers were young and
educated. I don’t see anything wrong in
this. Indisputably, it was the best Independence
Day function organized in Los Angeles in the last
35 years.
