Muslims
Saving Islamic Landmarks
By Mahjabeen Islam

A few of us have gotten together
and created MSIL, Muslims Saving Islamic Landmarks.
We have been appalled at the fact that the Saudi
govt. has destroyed 95% of the historical sites
in Makkah and now has its sights set on the Prophet's
(pbuh) house, which currently is protected by
a library. Besides Wahabism there is commercialism
that is now going to erase all traces of Muslim
culture in Saudi Arabia.
We plan or have done the following.
ISNA booth: We have gotten a booth at ISNA in
a prominent location so that Muslims can be educated
about what is going on. We will have pictures,
a brochure to pass out, a signature campaign and
the ability to fax or call the Saudi embassy from
right there.
Radio Islam interview: Ali Al-Ahmed and I did
an interview on Radio Islam on 8/23, the link
is http://www.radioislam.com/radioislam/ and go
to the Aug 23 broadcast "Destruction of Historical
Sites in Mecca and Madina". Radio Islam is
for an hour every evening, broadcast on AM radio
from Chicago. This interview gives details of
what is going on, and Kamran Memon a civil rights
lawyer interviewed us and the ISNA booth was his
idea also.
• Plan meetings with Muslim countries' and
Arab League's ambassadors
• Plan meeting with Kofi Annan
• Plan meeting with Director Near East,
Shirin Tahir-Kheli
• Plan press conference in Wash DC
• 60 minutes or CNN interview
• Full page ad in the New York Times
• If all the above fail to get a commitment
from the Saudi govt. that they will stop, we will
need to consider legal action.
Please help us. Any donation will be welcome.
