San
Francisco Independence Day Celebration

My family and I have been
attending the Pakistan Independence Day celebration
for the last 15 years. We have also not missed
Mr. Ras Siddiqui's report in your paper a week
after the event. He has been filing his reports
diligently and has been doing a superb job as
borne out by his full-page report this year. His
fairness and devotion need to be recognized by
the community.
However, in the same issue of your paper I noticed
the observation of Javed Altaf about the function.
He was critical of the arrangements and complained
that the event looked more like an Indian show
with an artist singing Indian songs. He is right.
My question to your readers is: could we go to
an Indian mela in the green kameez and white shalwar
outfit and be able to play Pakistani music on
the stage?
