Har Waqt,
Bar Waqt

Quaid’s birthday
is approaching and every year this day I am reminded
of the way the nation – nay, its leaders
under the influence of the mullah – have
thrown his motto to the winds by not only altering
its sequence from Unity, Faith & Discipline
to Faith, Unity & Discipline but also changing
the meaning of Faith from Yaqeen into Eeman.
Incidentally, Yaqeen was further emphasised upon
by calling it Yaqeen e Muhkam in 1951 when Liaquat
Ali Khan in a public address raised his clenched
fist to warn the Indians who had amassed their
troops on Pakistan borders for the first time
then. In their eagerness to Islamise the motto
our so-called leaders lost sight of the fact that
the Father of the Nation had given the motto to
the Pakistani nation which comprised of the non-Muslims
also. Are the Islam pasand leaders not depriving
the minorities of the motto given to them by their
Quaid, as they cannot profess Eeman as the Muslims
can do? Are they no more part of the Pakistani
nation?
Remembering the Quaid one is reminded of his habit
of punctuality and punctiliousness in his daily
affairs. Never once was he late from the appointed
time or overlooked the smallest details of his
conduct or duty. He was meticulous and prompt
in whatever he did. My dear countrymen, don’t
you think it would please the Quaid’s soul
if we as a nation promised him today to be always
punctual and punctilious in our daily chores also?
Let’s, therefore, give him a birthday present
of “Har Waqt - Bar Waqt”
(Every Time, On Time). Whether one realizes or
not, this simple practice of adhering to time
alone can make our nation progress beyond expectations.
It will make our trains and buses leave and arrive
in time, a phenomenon taken for granted in the
developed countries.
Punctuality in keeping office timings will result
in marked efficiency in our office working. The
files will move promptly and responsibly. The
functions, conferences and ceremonies will be
held at the tick of the clock without waiting
for hours for the VIP to show up. Patients shall
be seen by the doctors at the appointed time and
not subjected to the agony of endless wait. Weddings
and Valimas will not linger on and on for hours
with absolutely no respect for the time. Time
so saved could be utilized more fruitfully. In
short every thing shall move promptly and orderly.
It would not only make us progress, but also make
us a responsible and disciplined nation. It would
certainly make the Quaid smile in the heavens
and feel proud of us. Let’s prove ourselves
equal to the task that he expected of us as a
nation. Let’s show him we can do it, Har
W aqt – Bar Waqt.
