The Danish
Newspaper Cartoons
By Dr. Ibrahim Mulla

It was started by the Danish
newspaper Jyllands-Posten with the publication
of twelve cartoons blaspheming and deriding the
Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH). As one would expect
there were massive protests in the Islamic world.
Some Islamic countries have recalled their ambassadors
from Denmark and launched a boycott of Danish
products.
Some other countries like Norway and France have
now joined Denmark, thumbing their noses at the
Islamic world and republished the cartoons in
the name of freedom of speech. Muslims are taught
to respect the Prophets of other religions and
we will never blaspheme Moses (PBUH) and Jesus
(PBUH) whom we respect and revere just as much
as we respect and revere Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
To the cartoonists and newspaper editors I would
like to say just a few words. Let us give it a
fifty percent chance that Islam is either a false
or a true religion. If it is a false religion
then your cartoons caused a little short-lived
fun and made a few people laugh. On the other
hand if it is a true religion then consider this:
“Even if the wrongdoers had all that there
is on earth and as much more (in vain) would they
offer it for ransom from the pain of the penalty
on the day of judgment, but something from God
will confront them of which they have no idea.”
Quran 39:47
