A
Sovereign Nation or a Servant State?

In repayment for the enormous
sacrifice made by Pakistan when Gen. Musharaf
decided to join George Bush's war against terrorism,
Bush's military has brazenly targeted Pakistani
villages killing numerous innocent Pakistani women
and children sleeping in their homes. If this
was not criminal and brutal enough, senior US
Senators, instead of offering sincere apologies
and proper reparations along with a solid commitment
not to attack the sovereign nation of Pakistan
again, are loudly justifying these acts and are
in fact proclaiming their right and intention
to do the same thing again!
Condoleeza Rice's statement that "these people
cannot be taken lightly" needs no additional
comment to prove the callous and unrepentant nature
of this administration. This outrage was topped
by US Senators McCain (R, AZ), Bayh (D, IN) and
Lott (R, MS) who fully justified the killing and
stated that they would do the "same thing
again" (McCain).
Chori to chori, phir us pey seena zoree. Pakistanis
ought to ask themselves some very serious questions
in light of all this and depending upon the answers
ought to take appropriate actions at home and
abroad. Is this country a self-respecting sovereign
nation that demands and insists on protecting
and defending its citizens as a top priority or
is it a bought and paid-for servant-state that
meekly accepts any abuse hurled at it, including
the slaughtering of its innocent women and children
by foreign forces?
