A Horrible
Experience

Just wanted to inform you of an outrageous experience
I had at the NAZ movie theatre in Artiesia. The
incident occurred on June 20, 2006. After driving
50 minutes to reach the theatre, in the company
of my mother, I purchased 2 tickets to watch the
6 o'clock show of Fanna.
Upon entering the theatre I was rudely spoken
to by a man collecting tickets. He said that I
was not allowed to bring any beverage into the
movie theatre. After explaining to the rude attendant,
who claimed to be the theater's "owner",
that I had a medical problem, I was still refused
entry. The attendant claimed that "everyone
says that they have a medical condition"
to which I replied, "Sir, I'm not everyone,
and I do truly have a medical condition that requires
me to take medication."
Seeing how rude and stubborn this man was, I went
to the car and left my medication in it.
When I got back, I was searched to see if I had
actually left my medication in the car, or had
snuck it into my bag. No one else was searched
for concealed drinks or anything else. I was extremely
embarrassed and humiliated at the attendant's
attitude. I even confronted him on the issue and
asked why he was not searching anyone else's bags,
to which he had no reply. I told him to go to
my car and see for himself that I had left my
drink there.
Cutting the whole story short, he literally wanted
me to open all the compartments of my bag and
show him what was inside.
To make matters worse, I was even accused of throwing
my ticket on the attendant’s face, which
never happened. On top of all the commotion I
was refused business. Yes, how idiotic was that!
"What the hell was his problem," were
the exact words going through my mind. He told
me that he was refusing me business because he
had a right to, yet I hadn't done anything wrong.
He even threatened to call the Police, but then
chickened out and stated that he had video surveillance
The attendant was way out of line and was making
a big scene for absolutely no reason at all. So
we decided to call the Police ourselves. When
the Police Officer arrived he took both parties
aside and asked each one of us to give our version
of the story. I told the officer that there was
video surveillance and that he should view the
videotape to see if I had thrown my ticket on
anyone's face. But the attendant did not show
the video, because the incident never occurred.
After 10 minutes the officer came back to us and
told us that we were free to watch the movie if
we wanted to. He also told the attendant that
we had done nothing wrong, that we hadn't broken
any laws or committed any criminal acts; he even
suggested that we could complain to the BBB about
our terrible experience at NAZ.
I will never go back to that theatre again, the
service was horrible. They have lost my business
forever! Just because Naz has a monopoly they
think they can get away with anything. The theater
must get its act right.
