More Outrageous
than Guantanmo and Abu Gharaib

There is little
doubt that the so-called agencies in Pakistan
are involved in kidnapping, illegal incarceration,
murder, rendition to Guantanamo Bay and torture
of hundreds of Pakistanis. Thanks to judicial
activism of the Supreme Court, a semblance of
human rights has been restored in Pakistan and
some of these unfortunate people have been recovered.
My basic question is while this is happening in
Pakistan what moral justification do Muslims have
to complain about Guantanamo Bay and Abu Gharaib?
I also urge Pakistan Supreme Court to try these
agencies and their sponsors to respond to these
illegal and immoral activities. They have destroyed
hundreds of innocent lives for the appeasement
of a dictator. It is also a matter of great shame
that the general masses are apathetic about this
state of affairs. They must voice their revulsion
to such tactics adopted by the pro-west government.
This contravenes norms of a civil society and
is offensive to the tenets of Islam that Pakistan
portends to uphold. The civil society must express
its umbrage otherwise it would one day be subjected
to the same humiliation and torture and nobody
would come to its rescue.
