A Book Project
Deserving Attention of All Writers
An email message received by Pakistan Link about
a laudable scholarly project states:
Are you tired of Osama Bin Laden and Sadam Hussein
being the voices of Islam? "Finding Mecca:
The American Muslim Experience" is a new
book project that aims to uncover the voice of
the vast majority of American Muslims -- parents,
students, doctors, lawyers, teachers, writers,
artists -- you.
Submissions are currently being accepted from
American Muslims who are proud of their religion
and their country and would like to share their
thoughts through poetry, prose (short story or
essay), photography, or art. Submissions must
be previously unpublished and reflect a positive
image of Islam in the daily lives of Muslims in
America.
With so many negative images of Islam and Muslims,
it is imperative to counter the daily barrage
of terrorism and war footage with the beauty and
peace that can be reflected in the small, seemingly
mundane moments of everyday life. This is the
goal.
If you would like to be a part of this exciting
new project, email your submissions to Nausheen
Pasha-Zaidi at npashazaidi@yahoo.com and include
your name and contact information. Although there
is no pay, accepted submissions will be given
credit in the acknowledgements.
The loudest voices don't have to be the only ones.
