Who Is Responsible
for the May 12 Killings?

I read a lengthy and a well-articulated
article by Altaf Bhai from London in your newspaper.
First of all I am astonished as to why the MQM
had to hold a rally on the day the Chief Justice
of Pakistan had planned to address the Supreme
Court Bar Association. MQM should have been in
the forefront in according him a welcome befitting
of his stature.
Iftikhar Chaudhry, irrespective of his current
status, has stood up for the common man. From
all accounts it is clearly evident that MQM is
involved in the tragic happenings of May 12. The
police and the Rangers were absent from the streets
and MQM supporters were blocking the roads and
controlling Karachi as if they owned it. The Honorable
Chief Justice was prevented from going to the
Bar Association to celebrate the golden jubilee
of the Sindh Bar Association.
To top it all, the government has refused to hold
an inquiry into the violence and loss of 42 precious
lives.
The May 12 events have proven without a shadow
of doubt that General Musharraf supports an organization
that perpetuate its hold in Karachi and Hyderabad
through violence and torture.
