The State
of the Army

Today, the Army stands isolated and is ridiculed
by the people as well as its adversaries. With
the growing influence of the Taliban within and
in neighboring Afghanistan, Pakistan faces a tenuous
situation. Once again the country is being pressured
by the Americans to launch an offensive against
the militants. The Army does not have the moral
or physical courage to take on any challenge.
Once a proud and efficient institution, it is
more interested in pursuing its corporate interests
and lucrative civilian jobs rather than seeking
excellence in warfare.
