Musharraf's Gulag

Pakistan's all-knowing General has imposed emergency,
strangled free media, eliminated freedom of judiciary
and arrested thousands of people. Today, an average
Pakistani's rights are comparable to those incarcerated
in Guantanamo Bay for a number of years without
recourse to legal due process.
In order to perpetuate his illegal and immoral
rule, General Musharraf has turned Pakistan into
a Gulag. The Gulag system designed by the Soviet
Union is primarily known as a place for political
prisoners and as a mechanism for repressing political
opposition to the Soviet dictatorship.
Pakistan expatriates numbering over four million
remit $5billion annually to help the balance of
payments in Pakistan. Besides exerting pressure
via media, and in communication with the USA legislature,
I urge expatriate Pakistanis to postpone sending
money to Pakistan and stress upon the Western
governments to severe all economic and political
ties with Pakistan.
General Musharraf has attacked Pakistan and it
is the patriotic duty of every Pakistani to defeat
this aggression.
