Tearful Bilawal
By Dr. Ghayur Ayub

While the newly elected leader of the house, Syed Yusaf Raza Gilani walked in the central isle of the National Assembly, one could not help feeling sorry for Bilawal as he wiped away his tears among thumping desks, clapping hands and deafening shouts of ‘Benazir Zinda Hai’. He must have missed his mother probably thinking she should have been there to grace the occasion. I can tell Bilawal that millions of people shared his emotions, missing one of the greatest politicians of the country at that moment.
It is a sad story of Pakistani politics that political leaders are repeatedly eliminated from the scene by either bullets or bombs of ruthless terrorists; or by the unconstitutional orders of power-hungry army generals.

Not so very tall Amin Fahim

It was not necessary for Mr Amin Fahim to stand up in the National Assembly on a point of order to point out that  Ms Kumari was taking the Islamic way of oath. It must have put the nervous and fragile looking MNA in an embarrassing position with her family and community. Though he clarified his position when he was given a chance by the new speaker, but the bullet had already been fired. Again, the veteran politician tried to remind Zardari of his promise wherein he nominated him as the candidate for premiership in the first press conference. These two incidences made Mr Amin Fahim look not very tall.
