A New Dawn

I express my gratitude to the parliamentarians of Pakistan for their courage and compliance to the people's verdict against dictatorship, which had hovered over the unfortunate nation of Pakistan for most of its lifetime. People of Pakistan deserve freedom under an open sky. Ordinary men and women, children, religious and cultural minorities deserve a fresh start. I commend you for choosing the right path to lead this nation into a new era of dignity and national pride.
Although Pervez Musharraf and his co-conspirators used every trick in the book to divide and conquer but I am happy you had done your homework to break his last spell. Remember that you arrived at this juncture of history not by an accident but by a series of events paving the way to this battle. This fight signified a contest between rule of people through their elected representatives and a few powerful rogue generals who claim conquest of Pakistan as their majestic right.
I commend Asif Zardari and Mian Nawaz Sharif for working together, preparing and leading their parties to the final showdown with the Pakistani Pinochet. This is an appropriate occasion to remember the blood of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, sacrifices of hundreds and thousands of innocent workers who lost their lives in this struggle.
I must also commend the defiance and principled stand of Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, defying Supreme Court Judges, gallant lawyers, and heroic media in staying the course of righteousness.
Let us hope the new dawn brings freedom, prosperity, justice, equality, and democracy for the people of Pakistan.
