Why Are You Destroying What You Have Yourself Built?

Dr. A. Q. Khan’s interview, pasted below, is nothing less than a suicide attack against the State of Pakistan. Assuming the report below to be correctly reported, our only comment would be that the news would play dangerously in the hands of the enemies now when all our enemies were already gunning for our nukes to prove that Pakistan is a State of unreliable nuclear proliferators.
Below is an open letter to our national hero Dr. A. Q. Khan, whom we will always respect. But first, all Pakistanis need to read the following brief news report released by the American news wire service, the Associated Press. After the report is an open letter addressed to Dr. Khan:
North Korea received centrifuges from Pakistan with Musharraf's consent: Dr A.Q. Khan
Islamabad, Pakistan, July 4 (AP) - North Korea received centrifuges from Pakistan in a 2000 shipment supervised by the army during the rule of President Pervez Musharraf, nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan claimed Friday. He told The Associated Press in a telephone interview that the uranium enrichment equipment was sent from Pakistan in a North Korean plane that was loaded under the supervision of Pakistani security officials.
Dr Khan said the army had “complete knowledge” of the shipment of used P-1 centrifuges to North Korea and that it must have been sent with the consent of Musharraf, the then-army chief who took power in a 1999 coup. “It was a North Korean plane, and the army had complete knowledge about it and the equipment,” he said. “It must have gone with his (Musharraf's) consent.”
Pakistan Army and Foreign Ministry spokesmen declined to give immediate comment Friday. Musharraf's spokesman said he would respond to Dr Khan's allegations after speaking to the president. After his 2004 confession and televised statement of contrition, Dr Khan was pardoned by Musharraf but has been kept under virtual house arrest at his spacious villa in Islamabad.
Asked why he had taken sole responsibility for the nuclear proliferation, Dr Khan said he had been persuaded that it was in the national interest by friends including Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, the president of the then ruling Pakistan Muslim League (Q). In return, he said, he had been promised complete freedom, but “those promises were not honored.”
Khan also said that he had traveled to North Korea in 1999 with a Pakistan army general to buy shoulder-launched missiles from Pyonyang.
Khan's wife this week petitioned the Islamabad High Court for an end to the restrictions on her husband's movements and for his freedom to speak to the media. Also Friday, a lawyer for Khan alleged that listening devices had been planted in the scientist's tightly guarded home. (Posted @ 21:06 PST )

I wish Dr. Sahib had not spoken these words. Only last week, we had done a detailed assessment on how the US is building a case against Pakistan. We are stunned that Dr. A. Q. Khan could be so reckless. Inshallah, Allah will cover our mistakes and errors but this interview is nothing less than a suicide attack on the State.
We would like to address Dr. A.Q. Khan directly here.
Dr. Sahib, What Have You Done?
Dear Dr. Sahib,
Assaalam Alaikum. We write to you with a very heavy heart despite the fact that we respect you with the core of our soul and heart for what you have done for the country in the past. But what you have done now has made us very hurt and concerned.
We are not interested in the facts. All nations are involved in making secret deals for their own survival and national security. What deeply concerns is that why you chose to go public with this information now when the country was already under severe pressure from forces trying to build a case against us to make us an example for acquiring nuclear weapons. What benefit would the country or you get by leaking this information at this stage? Why did you do it?
The entire anti-Pakistan lobbies are going into a frenzy of excitement with these disclosures and ganging up to attack and take out the very nukes which you contributed so greatly to build?
You are angry with Musharraf. It is your right to seek justice. But why bring down the entire house with such statements to foreign media? Is it anger, age or revenge? Can’t you see what you have done?
Dr. Sahib, you have played beautiful innings in your life and still enjoy great respect with the masses. Please don't squander it in your anger and rage against a man. Please stop talking to the media about these issues. Already what damage you have done would take a mammoth effort to contain. .
Inshallah, Allah will always protect this nation and millat against all enemies and their evil. Allah will cover your blunder also but please seek guidance from Allah.
We want to convey to you that we patriotic Pakistanis and Muslims are hurt by what you have said. This was not the time. In fact, there is never a time to make such secrets public. By Allah we will sacrifice all what we have to protect this land, its ideology and its integrity and its honor. We are already up against heavy odds. Please don't make it easy for our enemies and difficult for us.
May Allah have mercy on your soul and protect this motherland from wise enemies and not so wise friends and sons.
Wassalam,
Very hurt,
Zaid Hamid
