New Car Plates

Who says the Gilani government has not done anything in 100 days.
The Karachi Motor Vehicle Department and the Karachi Police must be complimented for introducing a creative new number plate system for the new breed of lawless brats of the city.
These new number plates simply read, ‘ZindaHai BB.’ And I am not kidding.
I had the misfortune of standing next to one such truck-size black colour Land Cruiser with ‘Zinda Hai BB’ number plate, at 6:45 PM on July 9 at the Defence-Korangi Road intersection.
Fortunately this closeness lasted for only a few fleeting moments, as the ‘Zinda hai BB’ with tinted glasses and a large PPP flag broke the traffic light and sped away, leaving the remaining vehicles feel rather stupid for unnecessarily waiting for the red light to change colors.
As the light turned green, I went up to the traffic policeman on duty and asked him as to why had he not even attempted to stop the black Land Cruiser which had an illegal number plate, illegal black windows and illegal traffic behavior. His response in Urdu was brief, spontaneous and immensely sad.
"Sir,” the traffic policeman said, “I do not wish to make my children orphans by stopping a PPP car."
This incident, however small, is a reflection of the bigger predicament of Pakistan. Its rulers are lawless and its police are helpless.
Can we ask the recycled Chief Minister of Sindh and the IG Police to trace out this vehicle and present its driver before a non-PCO judge - to do the needful? WWW.AHMEDQURAISHI.COM
