Suddle’s Responsibility

In the last few days we were shocked twice by the news that in Karachi burglars were beaten up and burnt to death by angry mobs.
This happened on May 15th and May 18th in Ranchore Lines and the Five Star Roundabout in North Nazimabad respectively.
Earlier, in April 2008, Dr. Shoaib Suddle was named as the Sindh Inspector General (IG) Police. His appointment was resented by the people of the urban areas of Sindh as well as some political groups. But the ruling party representatives spoke highly of Dr. Suddle and stuck to the decision of his posting in Sindh.
My question to those political stalwarts is: where was Dr. Suddle when the citizens of Karachi had gone on a rampage and took the law in their own hands to punish the robbers?
What were the police doing at that time?
Did the IG Sindh take any action?
If yes, what measures were taken?
Is the IG Sindh fulfilling his responsibility?
To be sure, if necessary steps were taken after the first incident, the second one would have never taken place.
We demand accountability of responsible officials. As IG Sindh, Dr Suddle should take the responsibility for the two unfortunate incidents and leave his current post. I urge the speakers of the National and Sindh Assemblies to allow the elected members to debate the incidents and review the appointment of Dr. Suddle.
