Will Someone Enlighten Me?

I was wondering what ISNA and other religious organizations are doing to bring an end to the deteriorating situation in Swat where killing, burning and destruction of property goes unabated. One group wants the Sharia law while the other one would welcome any change in law through the Parliament!
Why cant groups like ISNA and ICNA, and individuals like Professor Akbar Ahmad and Dr Siddiqui, do something to bring peace to Swat and other tribal areas of Pakistan? They can help reach consensus on the true Islamic values and Sharia. Holding annual conventions with 40,000 attendees, spending millions on social get-togethers is okay ONLY if the life of Muslim men, women and children is not miserable in any part of the world and they are not subjected to live in sub-human conditions becuase of tyranical rulers. If that is the case then the agenda of ISNA and ICNA and other mega-membership organizations should be re-prioritized without any further delay.
So much destruction in the name of Islam is incomprehensible. What is the solution to such problems other than the sermons on how we progressed 1000 years ago across the globe. Sermons alone are not the answer. Why does everyone run around with his own interpretations of Islamic law? We just cannot blame others for this sorry state of affairs.
Do you agree ? Which Sharia law should they follow? Both cannot be right. There has to be a middle path without losing the spirit and essence of the message of Islam.
Hope someone will enlighten me with an answer.
