Judges and Judiciary
By Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

The way the imaginary bias and partisanship of the recently appointed honourable judges of the superior and higher courts are being openly questioned and flayed by the parties in opposition makes one worry for the future of the judiciary in the country. The unbecoming slander and vituperation have been going on against the honourable sitting judges of the Supreme and High courts ever since the issue of the restoration of the ex-CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was taken up by the lawyers.

At times the language used has been too offensive, nay, outright contemptuous, making one wonder as to why it is being tolerated and why no notice is taken of it by the courts. Confusion worse confounded, most judges are not acceptable either to one or the other party!

I very sincerely pray that there is nothing wrong with our honourable judges or else the entire edifice of the justice system will collapse and that the apprehensions, one way or the other, are imaginary created by the parties for scoring political points.
