A Tournament in Honor of Late Qassim E. Noorani

It is with immense grief and profound sadness that we have come to know of the sad and untimely demise of Qassim E. Noorani, President, CBFS Sharjah-UAE and ex-Managing Director of Khaleej Times.INNA LILLA HAY WA INNA ILLEHEY RAJAYOON.
Being a great visionary, who loved the gentlemen sport of cricket from the core and crux of his heart, soul, mind and body, he proved most of his adversaries wrong by putting Sharjah-UAE on the map of the global cricketing world.
His dynamic administrative skills and transformational personality was instrumental in converting a barren piece of land in Sharjah-UAE into a top-class flood-lit cricket stadium of the world, wherein eventually, a world record 198 one-day international matches were played under the
auspices of the ICC. Even today, all cricketers, no matter where they live or which type of cricket they play, consider it a great honor to play at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
On behalf of all global cricketers in general and UAE crickets in particular, I will appeal to the ICC and ECB to announce an open world class annual memorial cricket tournament in honor of Qassim E. Noorani, who played his innings with courage, faith, dedication and perseverance, on and off the field.
May God Almighty bless his soul and grant his family, friends, peers, pals, associates and the global cricket fraternity patience and forbearance to bear this irreparable loss. Ameen.
