Magnanimities and Niceties
By Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd.)

His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales Charles Philip Arthur George, heir apparent to the throne of the Commonwealth realms, defender of the faith and the future monarch of England and Wales, was seen dancing with an ordinary choir of Indian folk artistes to the tunes of Jodhpuri music.

Did His Royal Highness do something unbecoming the royalty by dancing in public with the lowly? No, not at all. On the contrary it was gracious of him to honor the troupe by “becoming” a part of them. Such martial tradition of casting away the social barriers by dancing with the ordinary are quite common in the armed forces and Hamid Meer should not drive contemptuous pleasure by showing Musharraf doing the same on stage. But I suppose, it is beyond people like Hamid Meer, to grasp such magnanimities and niceties.
