Expatriate Pakistanis have always demonstrated their love and devotion for the country that nourished and nurtured them. We are indeed deeply indebted to Pakistan for giving us the opportunity to achieve and excel. As an expatriate Pakistani, I am in deep gratitude and humble indebtedness to Pakistan for what it has provided me.
The recent floods are really a test of our fortitude, our love and admiration for the country. I was numb-founded for the magnitude of devastation and desolateness of the people in Pakistan. Then one day I saw the fund raising telethon called "Pukkar" organized by Imran Khan and the Mir Khalil-ur-Rehman Foundation. It was a really inspiring experience. It was like some one taking care of the mother I left behind in Pakistan. I owe Imran and Mir Khalil-ur-Rehman the debt of taking care of the land that I adore and for which I have profound respect and affection.
Imran Khan has earned the gratitude of the Pakistani disapora. He has worked with determination and selfless devotion to help the most impoverished and destitute people of Pakistan. Imran has earned our respect and he has earned our admiration. He has earned the respect of the people who owe everything to Pakistan. He has taken up the challenge to provide them the strength, direction, inspiration and fortitude to overcome this calamity.
If there is any Pakistani who has not contributed to Imran Khan and Mir Khalil-ur-Rehman's Pukkar, please do so. They have taken up the challenge, they aim to inspire the younger generation to reach out and help the people who have lost everything.
Imran Khan's telethon to raise funds for the people who need our temporary help is an inspirational and gratifying example. We all know for sure that these people who need our help would be on their feet again, tilling the land and providing sustenance to the people. Pukkar has created a mechanism to help the people, and it represents the idealism for which Pakistan was created.
When a country has people like Imarn Khan, Abdul Sattar Edhi and Mir Khalil ur Rehman its masses do not have to be despondent. These people are inspirational and are selflessly devoted to the to core concept and values of Pakistan and they would take that country out of the present malaise and crate a new society that believes in helping people and creating a system based on equity and fairness.
Imran Khan is an inspiration and deserves our help and gratitude in helping Pakistan. I appeal to the Pakistani expatriate community to pay attention to Imran Khan. He is taking care of the country that we all love. He deserves our help.
