Pakistani Americans Rejoice

President Obama took a very bold step in ordering the operation. Americans were told in the evening about the operation but Pakistani media were all over the city of Abbottabad, showing images of the burning helicopter. Pakistanis weren’t told what the operation was all about but media was showing live images.
Abbottabad is a most picturesque city about 120 miles from Islamabad and hosts the country’s largest military academy. Thus it is unfathomable that the Pakistani military and the ISI didn’t know that the #1 terrorist in the world is residing comfortably in a palatial compound near Kakul. The Pakistani military and the government, along with past presidents, like President Musharraf will have to rethink their statements denying any knowledge of Osama’s whereabouts when all this time, he was cuddled up right next to the military academy in Abbottabad.
As a Pakistani American, I salute President Obama for showing courage and strength. Perhaps now he won’t be criticized for being “weak” and Americans will get some reprieve from the futile debate on his birth certificate.
Today all Pakistani Americans are celebrating the demise of the terrorist who hijacked Islam, killed scores of innocent people, and tarnished the image of Muslims across the world. We are truly rejoicing.
