Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan - Coming to
Los Angeles with Back 2 Love Tour 2015
Los Angeles, CA: Music aficionados in Southern California, particularly those with a tinge of mysticism in their taste, are waiting eagerly for the Back 2 Love concert by the legendary Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, slated for Sunday, May 17, 2015 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. The L.A. concert is being organized by Dylan Entertainment LLC.
In a recent interview, Los Angeles urologist and philanthropist, Dr. Bharat Patel explained that Dylan Entertainment was founded to combine entertainment with the spirit of charity. He elucidated,”Over the years, there have been many concerts. Either they are purely commercial or specifically for charity organizations. The intention of Dylan Entertainment is to organize an event on a corporate footing but distribute the profits to deserving non-profit organizations.” He announced that proceeds from the profits of the Rahat concert will be distributed among three charities: namely, Pratham, Friends of India Association and Association of Los Angeles Physicians of Indian Origin.
Dr. Patel has a sterling track record where organizing and hosting charity events is c onc e rned. He has championed the causes of B J Medical College Alumni Association, AAPI, and ALAPIO. In talking of the legendary performer, Dr. Patel stated, “Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan burst into the South Asian music scene with the success of his 2004 song from the film Paap. Prior to that R a b a t had been the protege of his trail blazing uncle, the famous Qawwali and Sufi singer, Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.”
Though it was Rahat’s grandfather, Qawwal Fateh Ali Khan, who started the family tradition, Nusrat Sahib and Rahat brought the family fame and recognition. Rahat had started training at the very tender age of three, but he was nine years old when he performed solo. At twelve he started touring the world with Nusrat Sahib. A 1995 collaboration with the Pearl Jam lead singer, Eddie Vedder, led to the sound track of the Sean Penn film Dead Man Walking. This brought with it a spate of Western fans.
Rahat attained stardom status following his debut in the Bollywood Film Industry. He has delivered numerous memo r a b l e hits that have earned him innumerable awards. His fans are not only from the South Asian Diaspora but people of all nationalities, who enjoy the bond they form with his music— music that transcends all linguistic and cultural barriers. In 2014, Rahat was honored as the first Pakistani to sing at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, where he performed the venerable number, Mast Qalander.
“ Rahat has been performing in North America, and mesmerizing audiences with the depth of his music, the texture of his voice and the engulfing vibrations of the metaphysical, that his music exudes,” Dr. Patel added.
Dr. Patel is well experienced to make such an observation because he has promoted many artistes in concert to include Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Kumar Sanu, Shankar Ehsan Loy and Shreya Ghoshal. Dr. Patel added that with the great success of the Shreya Ghoshal Show, which was also in Pasadena, ALAPIO is on the verge of starting free clinics for the indigenous population. He said, “ Dylan Entertainment will be a socially responsible and philanthropic organization, that will further the causes of education and good health.”
In the future Dylan Entertainment strives to bring Hollywood and Bollywood together join a common platform, for entertainment and charity. Pasadena Civic Auditorium is located at 300 E. Green Street, Pasadena, CA 91101. Tickets for the show are available online at www.Sulekha. com and www.ticketmaster.com.
