Pensioners Plight

It would be ungratefulness on the part of the pensioners not to thank the government for the 10% and 25% relief offered to them. In these days of high inflation and sky-rocketing prices, any relief, big or small, is more than welcome.

However, it was pathetic to see long queues of old men and women standing for hours under the sizzling sun at bank windows waiting helplessly for their turn to draw their pension.

Some of them had come from far off places and the journey would have cost them quite a few precious rupees too.  In today’s computerized age it should not be difficult for the govt. to electronically transfer their pensions to their nearest bank or the Post Office. Such a measure would bring immense relief to the old pensioners.
