Read your Pakistan Link this week. It is always a good feeling to receive and read a newspaper which reflects Pakistani and Muslim perspectives. Although most of the news stories are a week old, and that is due to the internet and the fast moving, instantaneously news-dispersing social media. But reading news in a professionally arranged and authentic news media is always appreciated.
I personally would like to thank Faruqui Sahib and Mansuri Sahib and the rest of the team to keep this candle of light lit for us in these trying times.
Having said that, I would like to point out an article in this issue by Paul Netter on Halloween. I think such articles do not suit your esteemed newspaper. First of all, as Muslims we do not celebrate Halloween because it’s a celebration night with the devil. I wonder if you are aware of the background of Halloween.
Secondly, it is tantamount to teaching our ignorant adults, that its okay to celebrate if you are celebrating it in a safe manner. It is just like saying, "Say Bismillah before opening a bottle of champagne".
I am by no means letting Paul Netter down, he is a good writer and a valuable resource for your newspaper.
Although I am not a hard core gung-ho,nor a bacon beer Muslim, but sometimes something strikes.
Realty is,we Pakistani Muslims always look for American schools in Pakistan and halal food in America.
